The Lorca Center made history yesterday with the absolute premiere of La passion de Yerma, its first co-production since it opened four years ago. I chose a risky and free version of the Lorca drama by the playwright Lola Blasco and the director Pepa Gamboa, starring actress María León. The architect of this curious review recognized in the morning, before the media, that he had accepted the challenge of “touching” Lorca. The person in charge of giving life to Yerma stressed during the presentation that she feels proud of this “gift” of work and thanked a version that in her opinion has “very good” that Lorca has no expiration. “I will put his heart, his ovaries and his everything,” said the Sevillian interpreter, who assured that on the boards he will defend the essence of a Yerma “with a heart.” Gamboa, tanned in a thousand theatrical stories, revealed that in this work he has put “the accent on the desire on frequent, on the unfulfilled desire”. The assembly, he said, speaks of passions from the concept that “theater is theater.” The director of the Center, Sara Navarro, thus begins her bet “for the promotion of contemporary artistic creation” with a project “that brings Lorca closer to the present, with a very exact Yerma”. The piece, which will turn later through cities such as Seville, Valencia, Valladolid and Torrelavega, has a small cast – but first – in front of the twenty characters in the fashioned text to concentrate the plot. They are part of this Críspulo Cabezas, Mari Paz Sayago, Lucía Espín and Diego Garrido. The new wasteland no longer just wants to have children; It is ‘pregnant’ with desires. He wants to discover his body and needs desire, passion and curiosity. The sexual conflict in Yerma’s passion, Blasco recalled, “has gained greater prominence in the face of Yerma’s inability to be a mother. In the same way that motherhood cannot be understood today as in the last century, in this new version of Classic we consider the different reasons that can lead these characters to unleash the tragedy because, as Lorca already showed in his day, not even the strongest honor is able to hold the passions. ” Produced by SEDA in collaboration with the Lorca Center, the Foundation of the poet and CaixaBank, the assembly filled last night at its premiere where it was until the very Carmina Barrios. The mother of María León and protagonist of Carmina or busts could not miss her daughter’s debut in a version with a promising future.
